All things considered, the Department of Heritage & Arts fared relatively well during the 45 days that those two events bookended. While the department didn’t get everything it requested, it also didn’t lose much and even benefitted from a couple of unexpected surprises.

Employees Invited to Museum Planning Sessions


As a part of the planning process for the proposed Museum of Utah, the department has contracted with PRD consultants to develop an interpretive plan. We would like to invite all of our employees to participate in that planning during two sessions in December.

Legislature Week 1: Heritage We Go

House Speaker Brad Wilson opened his tenure with a rousing speech that pointed to the completion of the Transcontinental Railroad as a source of motivation. He also declared his desire to replace the State Office Building with expanded parking and a place to display the historical artifacts owned by the state.
